Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

• Account data: email address and a securely hashed password (we cannot read your password).
• Profile data: display name, username, date of birth (used to verify you are 18+), gender, dating preference, intention, country and optional city/region, bio, interests, languages, lifestyle preferences.
• Photos: images you upload to your profile.
• Activity data: likes, matches, messages, reports, and generic usage analytics (page views, aggregated counts).
• Security data: IP address and basic device metadata in security and audit logs, where legally appropriate.

We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, or background data from your device. We avoid collecting personal information that is not necessary for the service.

2. How we use data

• To operate core features: discovery, compatibility scoring, matching and messaging.
• To keep the platform safe: moderation, report handling, scam-pattern detection, abuse prevention.
• To communicate: match and message notifications, safety warnings, service updates (you control most of these).
• To improve the product with aggregated, de-identified analytics.

We never sell your personal data, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers on the platform.

3. What other members can see

Other members can see your display name, age, country and (optionally) approximate region, profile photos, bio, interests, languages and intention. They can never see your email, exact location, date of birth or account status. Emails shared in chat are hidden by our safety systems. Your exact city is only shown at region level, never as an address.

4. Privacy controls

In Settings you can hide your profile from discovery, enable incognito mode, hide your online status, hide your region, and block specific members. You can also delete your account, which removes your profile from discovery immediately and schedules your data for deletion.

5. Data retention and deletion

When you delete your account, personal data is deleted or irreversibly anonymized within a legally appropriate window. Limited safety records (such as confirmed moderation actions) may be retained where required to protect members or comply with law. You can request a copy of your personal data at any time via Settings → Download my data.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use signed, httpOnly cookies. Administrative access is role-based, server-verified and audit-logged. We apply rate limiting, input validation and injection protection across the platform. No system is perfect, but we design so that a breach exposes as little usable data as possible.

7. Third-party processors

Today the platform runs on our own infrastructure. If we integrate third-party services in the future — such as SMS verification (e.g. Twilio), identity verification providers or push notification services — only the minimum necessary data will be shared with them, this policy will be updated, and their credentials will be stored server-side only, never in frontend code.

8. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie for your login session, plus a local browser record of whether you have seen the loading splash. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

9. Children's privacy

Fikrago Love is an 18+ platform. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Accounts identified as belonging to minors are removed, and related data is deleted.
