What Does Compatibility Really Mean?
Shared interests are nice — shared intentions are essential. A look at what actually predicts connection (and what doesn't).

Compatibility is the most overused word in dating — and the least examined. Here is how we think about it, and how Fikrago Love's matching system reflects that thinking.
The layers that matter
1. Intentions come first. Two people can love the same band and still want completely different lives. When relationship goals align — serious, casual, marriage-minded — everything else gets easier.
2. Values beat hobbies. Shared interests give you things to talk about; shared values (honesty, family, ambition, lifestyle) determine whether the conversation continues for years.
3. Communication style is the multiplier. Two good communicators with different interests will outlast two poor communicators with identical playlists. How you argue, apologize and express needs matters more than what you watch on Netflix.
4. Logistics are real. Languages, geography and life stage are practical compatibility. A perfect match in the wrong country is still workable — but both people should know they are signing up for that work.
What a compatibility score can and can't tell you
On Fikrago Love, scores are built from intentions, interests, languages, lifestyle overlap and location. A high score means: you have a genuinely good starting point. It does not mean the relationship is guaranteed — no honest system could promise that, and we won't.
Use the score to prioritize who you message, and the "why" explanations to open conversations: "We both listed Lisbon travel plans — where are you thinking of staying?" The score starts the conversation. You build the connection.
Frequently asked
Do opposites attract?
They can — but research on long-term satisfaction consistently points to aligned values and intentions as the stronger predictor.
Is a 92% match a guaranteed great relationship?
No. Scores reflect profile overlap. Real compatibility is built through conversation and shared experience.
